Crest is a small oil painting that captures the surge and pulse of ocean waves in motion. At just 4 by 4 inches, the layered brushstrokes explore the depths of blue—from deep navy to pale sky—while whites and muted yellows trace the spray and foam as the waves break. The thick, white stepped frame brings focus to this concentrated moment of the sea’s energy, a direct reflection of the Maui surf that inspired it. This piece also pairs well with my painting Swells, creating a dialogue between these two expressions of water’s constant movement and power.
