The artist

Fred Wilson paints the places that ask us to pause.

From the Arizona high country to Maui surf and deep space, Fred turns a few square inches into a place you can return to.

Aloha Whispers, an original oil painting by Fred Wilson

Fred Wilson is a self-taught artist in Prescott Valley, Arizona. After moving to Arizona in the 1970s, he built a career in marketing and design management, owned a small Prescott gallery, and continued to study with artists along the way.

Now painting full time, Fred works in oils, watercolours and tempera. His specialty is the miniature: a demanding scale where a horizon, wave or distant planet has to carry depth without excess.

His work has been shown through Ian Russell Gallery of Fine Art in Prescott and has found its way into collections through galleries and online marketplaces.
